Druids chalk up big win at Heol Y Cyw

With the First XV having a weekend it was time for the Second XV, The Druids to take centre stage last weekend as they took a strong team to take on Heol Y Cyw seconds and enjoyed the limelight they did, scoring nine tries as they beat The Cockerels 0-57.

The game played in great conditions was end to end stuff despite the one sided scoreline. In fact Llantwit spent large periods of the game defending as the home side played there part in a thoroughly entertaining game.
Llantwit’s pack created the platform for the tries as they provided plenty of good ball for exciting half backs in Owen Jauncey at nine and Dan Powell at ten to control the game and provide enough space for the tries to unfold.
The tries coming from Powell, Evan Holloway 2, Damian Ponting 2, Alex Parry, Alex Keeton, Jamie Lewis and Steff Price. With Powell slotting over six conversions to take his personal tally to seventeen points. This though was more about a good team performance especially in the big defensive display required to keep their opponents to no score. Man of the Match was prop Peter Thomas who put in a strong performance in the heart of the pack.
This week sees the First XV return to the Recreation Ground as they take on newly promoted Glyncoch at home in the league. Kick off is at 2:30pm.
